VGA mode?

What exactly is the VGA mode? and what is the difference between it and the normal mode retail PS2 runs at?

Advantages/disadvantages?

ok so that is if I wanted to hook up PS2 --> To monitor directly right?

I have a TV card in my PC.. so I watch TV on my PC.. with that I could just use the normal PS2 out of the box cables/mode... ?
