Ver 1 with matrix inf. –
I just installed a matrix infinity on my version 1 ps2 (GH-005). I think I broke a pin on the main processor right beside the I contact point. When I boot it up nothing happens...black screen and I get no eject light...eject doesn't even work. If I try and bridge the broken pin from the processor to the board I get it to boot...get the eject light...but again...eject button does not work and will not boot anything....or read anything...including memory cards....is it time to buy a new one?
Ahh, progress....took it apart again...glutton for punishment I guess...and found a solder bridge on the bios....repaired that...bridged the broken connection and it boots....it reads memory cards...but still no eject and no dvd drive...will check the dvd controller and the ribbon cables tomorrow...also no matrix logo or anything...not sure what I'm supposed to see when it boots up....
Sounds like your in some trouble. If the chip is flashed with anything before firmware v1.46 you wont see any boot logo and you will only see the firmware version while booting a PS2 game, under the "Playstation 2" logo you will see "Infinity X.XX". If its the homebrew MI version you wont see anything at all until it flashed. I cant be sure but it almost as if your BA chip on the modo has burnt out. No eject is a common syndrome of a bad BA but dont quote me on that because a broken chip leg on the CXD (CDVD) controller might wreak all kinds of havoc.
Yeah, now....I'll check the cdvd controller chip....may have wired it wrong...and where is the BA? Is that easily replaceable or should I just buy a new one? and would a new slim be an easier install? Unsoldering the daughter board was a pain...
And thanks spedmetal, I was going to send this to you..but didn't know if you could fix a broken bios pin.
