v7 alternative A point
v7 alternative A point –
im having some real problems soldering to this point there just doesnt seem to be any metal to solder to.
All the other points are ok (i think) i can boot and view the MI config screen and play original games. I even managed to flash the chip when the joint held breifly but it quickly came unstuck and im back to the RSOD
is there any alternative point A for a V7 ps2 ?
i've never had a problem with that point before. try a little flux on the point to make sure you good a good solid connection
its is the back of the resistor im supposed to be soldering to right ?
just there aint any metal there, it looks different to the other resistors it doesnt have the metal mounds on each side
i can get what looks like a connection by using a large amount of solder and having a real nasty looking joint but i suspect the solder is sticking to the board more than the actual point
also i cant get a reading on the resistor from my multimeter, there being no metal to connect it to
there should be a small metal housing around the end of the resistor. if the wire came loose chances are it ripped the housing off. you should be able to trace the link from the pad to the nearerst via. from the diagram I have there should be one right next to it? I've attached a diagram - I dont have a v7 atm so best double check that it is the correct via.
thanks alot finally got it sorted
