v12 MI Install. How to tell if it's working? –
I just recieved my green dot MI from foundmy.com yesterday and installed it. The ps2 boots as it normally would.... I have no clue how to tell if the chip is working or not. Shouldn't a logo, or firmware version be shown onscreen, or should there be a flashing led on the chip??? This is my first ps2 chip install, so any ideas as to what I did wrong, or what I could do to fix it would be really appreciated.
If it is booting games then there should be a firmware version at least under the PS logo when it boots the disk, if it is it's working.
Also you can press and hold Start on the controller when you boot to disable the chip, it will actually say "disabled".
im not sure if its cause i flashed more current firm ware on mine but when my ps2 boots before it does anything it flashes "MATRIX" on the screen
I am going to install a MI into a PS2-V12... I have read a lot of the neofix, which would protect my laser better...
Is this really needed, since it'll cost me additional
If you want to protect you laser and prolong the laser lifetime by stablizing the currents with diodes then yes you need it.
