v10 wont read cd's after flash upgrade –

decided to upgrade the chip in my v10 from messiah 2 to homebrew infinity(orange dot). replaced all wires bar M thru to W, triple checked all connections for bridges, solder splashes etc. with multi meter & mag. glass. made sure wires were as short as poss & not crossing other wires more than once.used alternate 5v point for chip with diode. flashed the chip without a hitch from cd (v1.75) & threw a ps2 disc in,booted up fine. put case back together then decided to try out a ps1 game & got disc read error. tried a cd based ps2 game & got the same again, so tried the firmware cd again and still came back with disc read error. prior to flashing the firmware it played cd's without a hitch. any body got any suggestions cos the kids are gonna kill me when they get up in the mornin cos their favourite games are cd based.

I hope when you say that you used alternative 5 volt spot you made a mistake because infinity is only 3.3 volt.
open again and see if works, could be a wire getting pinched when you put the case back on.
failing that recheck all wiring taking particuliar notice to SX and B, G, and I points.

cheers dungbeetle will double check those points as suggested, when i say alternate 5v point what i mean is i've used a 5v supply with a 1n4148 diode to reduce the voltage down to 3.4vapprox. sorry for the confusion,(it was a fix posted on the infinity site a while ago because some consoles struggle to give out a constant 3.3v). will get back with the results 2morra cos i'm seein double at mo & need some kip.
cheers bodger
