V10 PS2 (matrix infinity) Skips Freezes on backups only. –

Hey guys... I think I have an idea what's going on here but I want other feedback before I make changes. I have a V10 PS2 with a Matrix Infinity and Romeo Mod, for about 3 weeks it's not acting right. It will not play my back ups right... they skip or some even freeze or sometimes it says cant reed disk (or something like that). I started testing today and I was able to play a hand full of PS2 DVD backup games with no trouble at all, I also was able to play original DVD movies and cdr backups, however when I play DVD movie backups it skips or in some cases it will freeze up. I tried all kinds of media and all do the same thing. I would suspect the laser but I bought a new 400c and used the lens changer to swap and it gave me identical results (however the brass bushing fell out so I sent it back for a replacement ...could have been faulty as well). Now anyone have some testing ideas or can someone point me in the right direction? It's so odd usually there not to bad to trouble shoot since if it's broke it's broke but I just can't seem to get this one.
Thanks
Mike
ready for more testing just let me know what to try... Or worst case let me know where to send it so I know it will be fixed for sure.

wewll I thought about that but instead of cleaning it I replaced it with a 400c and it gave me the exact same results.

seems like it may just be related to my media used for backups. I re burned a few and I had big improvements. I thought it was odd that it was sorta hit and miss. Plus all of my ps2 games worked 100% and all anything original worked 100%. I dont understand why it used to play these movies and now it will not but I guess its just one of those things.
I need to get some better media and stay away from the walmart stuff.
OH well Ill just move on (where is my ps3 dangit)
