updated 1.82.. hangs at Matrix logo

I have no idea what's wrong, firmware update completed at 100%, I restarted the PS2 and now all it does is hang at the Matrix logo. I've checked the controller ports and everything, controller in slot one can turn on the analog light, so it seems to be working.

I can boot the system from stanby and hold the reset for 2 secs and it'll load the system normally and play original discs normally. I guess this bypasses the modchip?? Not sure. Anyway, using that method it won't boot up the firmware CDs. I'm guessing it's not reading burned discs anymore when I boot it that way.

Anyone have any idea what I can do? I'm not sure if this is a fake chip or not, but the update did seem to complete normally. I can't access any matrix controls or anything.

Sounds like a clone to me. Is this your first fw upgrade with that chip?

yip - you have a clone. afraid its dead in the water. you'll have to remove the chip.

Yep, this was the first firmware upgrade, guess I'll take the thing out and replace it. :banghead:

Yah, I have to same problem with you, I think we both are FCUKED, So there's no way to fix this problem? except remove the chip? I know who is the guy that sold me the Slim, 300$...

well, tell us and others, so we and others won't buy anything from him/her.
