Can I install a Infinity Orange dot in a ver14 then update it with new firmware?
Or do I have to update it in a Ps2 with lower ver number first?
Regards

you can't use a orange dot in a ver 14 because for v14 and higher you need a green dot on the green dot there is also a change in the actel
the orange dot can be upgraded till al new firmwares but only in a v1 till v13

Ok.
Thank you.
Mabcom, I'm very interested in the details about the differences between the orange and green dot versions. Can you point me to some online documenation somewhere that might break this down? I keep hearing conflicting reports - some people say there is no difference besides preinstalled firmware, but I also have heard what you're saying before. I'd love to see some proof either way.Originally Posted by mabcom
Well you can read the details on the official infinity websiteOriginally Posted by hawkbug
but will answer you question,
On the older versions of the infinity yellow, red, blue etc etc it was possible to ad support for newer versions of ps2/pstwo with only a update to the eeprom on the infinity, But Sony decided to do some drastical changes to the pstwo
I/O (v14 and higher) and it was not possible to inplant the (stable)changes only in the eeprom
so the Matrix team decided to make also some updates on the actel but because the actel can't be reflashed trough a firmware update they brought out a new version THE GREEN DOT .
from now on the green dot support all versions of ps2/pstwo
you can update the older infinity's to newer firmwares without
any problems but to have it run in a v14 you really need a newer version

Great, thanks for the info. That clears it up for me.
