unstable booting on PSX burned discs
unstable booting on PSX burned discs –

when I first used the modchip to play burned discs it worked fine, although occasionally the screen would go blank upon booting PSX discs. Recently though I burned a ToD2 in MDS format into a disc and played it, and 2 out of 5 times the screen would go blank upon rebooting/booting. Is there something I can do to reduce these occurances? Is it the format of the disc? or is my ps2 getting sick?

Tales of Destiny (1 and 2) are anti-mod chip disks; a lot of the psx rpgs are. What version PS2 do you have? If it doesn't happen with all psx disks using the same media and you have a pre-v9 system it's very likely the anti-mod protection. I get random results with such disks as well, sometimes blank screen, sometimes the anti-mod logo, and only some anti-mod games work occasionally (with a v5 system).

I see...I just noticed sometimes it also goes into cd audio mode, it reads the disc as if its a audio disc, so it doesnt load the game but plays any music in it, what does that mean? same antimod thingy?
