Turn off quick boot mode
Turn off quick boot mode –
I think the ps1 mode is stuck in quick boot mode for ps1 games, whenever i put in a ps1 game it loads straight to the game no PlayStation logo shows up, when i turn the console on and have a ps1 game in there with the lid up, and then close the lid it auto boots the game but just stops loading, i then have to reset for the game to load then it goes straight into the game, any ideas whats going on?
OK, when i turn the chip off the PlayStation logo shows fine for originals, but when i turn the chip back on the disc stops spinning and nothing on screen shows the only way to get the game to play is to reset the console again, y fix is greyed out when i go to matrix infinity options, and when i press select while booting the ps2 up it goes to matrix infinity options but i can't select anything, but when i reset the console again and press triangle and circle to bring settings up the options work fine.
auto boot mode is enabled, all other options work fine apart from the ps1 logo not showing, it's very strange, also is the big matrix infinity logo supposed to show when you boot the ps2?, I'm getting pretty annoyed with this i already had to take my console back once for repair please help!

I know my mod chip is not a fake because i am still able to load backups for all games and my firmware is 1.88, it's just that when i boot ps1 games no Sony playstation logo appears when i start up, maybe a bad firmware flash? someone must know what is going on? i can't find any solution to this on the Internet so help is very much appreciated.

Why does it matter if the logo shows up or not?
I don't have any PS1 games to test with I'm afraid.
You can turn off the boot logo in the Matrix config menu. I like to keep it on so I know if the chip is enabled or not when I reset. Plus it looks cool imho.
jalaneme, I'm having the same issues with ps1 games freezing on boot and having to reset. Kind of annoying really. Also, Super Robot Wars Alpha (original, not backup) is freezing at very specific points but that is another topic entirely.
hmm, does the game just stop spinning? that's what mine does when i put in a ps1 game, after that i have to reset again for the game to start properly. also make sure there is no dust particles on the CD or inside the ps2 before playing.

Another "feature" of this failure to boot (I've got a rev 15, I believe) is sort of a grinding noise upon reboot sometimes. The only time I hear that noise is with the unbooted PSX title and it doesn't happen every time at that.
I've been listing PSX bugs as I find them with the MI chip at the gameworlddirect forums (gameworlddirect dot co dot uk). The testing hasn't been extensive and unfortunately I sold off my 1000+ game collection and thus am only able to test a handful of games.
Note that I don't run backups (but only because I'm a noob with that whole scene) and all my testing is done with original games.
ok, have you tried re-flashing the firmware? i just want to see if that fixes it or not, so it would be good if you tried to re flash and tell me the outcome if it solves any problems :-S and keep posting about it on forums, i want the matrix infinity team to be aware of this problem so it will be fixed in another upgrade (hopefully)
Have you emailed them?
