Is there anyway to tell if your Matrix Infinity Chip is real or fake if its already installed, without taking it apart? Like by the startup screen?
Thank you in advance,

Try to update(Flash) it,if the update works its a real MI if it fails and the chip stops working its a Fake, the only exception to this is Myth Pro. Also how much you paid for it is a great example.
Don't flash it if you're not sure. You don't want to just throw away the chip by destroying it. Open the console if you want to make sure it is a Matrix Infinity.
Ah, I see. Thank you for your help. I don't want to attempt to fry my chip nor do I clearly remember how much I paid for the PS2 Slimline with the Chip and a fan installed. I guess I'll have to find another way to upload gamesaves/cheats since I don't want to risk updating my firmware. Also, can someone explain how the PS2 should start up if I have a legit Matrix Infinity Chip?
Thank you in advance,

P.S. Thank you very much for your help, fasman and T07N.
