    Good Day Everyone,

I recently installed Matrix Infinity into my Version 9 PS2 (USA) and I cannot boot up back up games.

When I pressed the power button, everything runs smooth, both back up and original games work, but no video just a black screen. And when I pressed the reset button for 2 seconds, it booted up with video and only with original games, not back up. I tried to flash the chip with different version and none of them seems to work. I was told that I have the homebrew version instead of the regular version so I flashed the homebrew firmware 1.54 and nuthing!! What's going on? Oh, and everytime I boot up my ps2, i always have the controller plugged.

Not to mention, now I can't even flash any firmware because it always say "Programming Failed." Any way to fix that?

Also at one time I got lucky and it finally booted back up games ONCE with the fact that I have to hold the reset button for 2 seconds. This should tell me that my soldering is correct! (hopefully )

Here's some pics of my work. Any help I would greatly appreciate it.

Let me get this straight. When you say black screen, you mean it show you PLAYSTATION 2 logo then nothing more happends (black screen?)

The chip looks excactly like Original Matrix Infinity version 1.5 that I had a batch of. I dunno if the homebrew looks 100% identical to the MI.

Does it say Matrix Infinity 1.5 under the PS2 logo?
I might be wrong, but if u can access all menues and such on the chip, disable it and also boot upgrade cd, my guess is that u should resolder the points on the bottom side. v9 models can me tricky with the dvd points. Ive also got some other errors after PS2 "boot-game" logo (rsod actually but with another chip) when dvd points havent been correct solder. Im talking about those I,H, etc etc points.. It might be a dead solder point there.

    Thats what I would do.

oh not to mention...I got it to work after I fixed the soldering point "A" and again, it only worked once. What I mean by the black screen is that there's nothing displayed. No ps2 logo, nor anything, just black. When I booted up by holding the reset button for 2 seconds, there's no matrix infinity logo beneath the ps2 logo.

Not that I'm lazy, I rechecked my soldering point at least 10 times already. Sometimes you just can't see your own mistakes. I guess I'll keep trying to see if I can somehow get the chip to program the 1.54 firmware (not homebrew). Thanks for the quick reply.

this must be a soldering problem.
if you got a equipment so you can messure the solderings thats probebly your best shot.

also try pulling a bit in the cable, if its a real bad soldering it will come loose.

    OK,
    Now i understand.

If its BLACK with chip enabled, and works without chip disabled you should go over your bios points again.

Screw the a,h,i,j,g,b points for now.
Check the bios points q,p,o,n,m and the rest.

Since it works with chip disabled there shouldnt be any bridges either, so dont think that is your problem.

Your installation doesn't look too neat and there might be a cold joint somewhere.
