Stuck at firmware 1.82?
Stuck at firmware 1.82? –

Good day all, here's the scenario
I recently installed an MI that I had lying around(I have had it for a year or so), came with 1.64 firmware.
I got the latest firmware from the Matrix site(1.93) and tried to flash the chip. When I booted the ps2 it gave me please insert original...
I then booted while pressing the circle button, got to the update firmware page where I get the message "press X to update firmware to 1.82". I thought it was supposed to be the start button?? And how come I get 1.82 instead of 1.93???
When I boot the ps2 I get the grey Matrix logo and I can go to the config menu using triangle/circle.
Bad wires? Clone chip? Is there still a problem with wires being too long(They are not that long but maybe?)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You have a good chip, a little while back, (and apparently its still not fixed) they posted the 1.8x firmware as 1.93 by accident. So its not your chip, its a mislabeld download that is at fault.

Now that was quick! Thanks bootleg.
I have just downloaded fw 1.91 and it still shows up as 1.82 on the firmware screen??
Dunno if this helps but I have the new silver slim version.
I have also double checked my connections and everything is good.
Shouldn't it still boot automatically to the firmware cd?
Thanks again.

Odd. I'll have to dig through my stash of upgrade CD's and upload it for you.

The ps2 version shouldn't be a factor at all.
Now as for you connections being good, I'll have to take your word on it.
Although it would have been good for you to compare your chip to the matrix site just to be on the safe side.

Yes, it should as my v7 with a mi green dot does even without forcing recovery mode. Maybe a bad flash?
