I'm suddently having problems with my v14 (GH-041-04) console that I fitted a fairly long time ago. The problems came after I borrowed it to my roommate, he claims it didn't work when he first started it up, but I suppose something could've happened on the way to wherever he brought it.

Anyway; both backups and originals boot, but the picture is really distorted and everything looks weird. Some games will just display a yellow/blue grid-system after the "Playstation 2" logo is shown. The sound seems to be normal and can be heard in the background, though. With no media in, the menu-labels looks like distorted Japanese letters. Seems to be some kind of GPU-related problem, really.

Right after the problems came I opened up the console and found no loose wires, but went over them anyway. Still problems. I've now taken out the whole mod and all the wires with it, cleaned the board good, but still the same!

What could be the problem? Is there anyone here having similar problems?

Go into the config menu and change it from rgb to component or vice versa, maybe your "friend" screwed up the settings in the ps2 browser. Also try new a/v cables.
