Slow boot?
***I have another thred on this but it was getting confusing so id like to clear it up with this new one***
This is my first modded PS2. It is a premod with a Matrix infinity. The system cost me $320 CAD and i would just like to make sure its working right.
The problem is when I turn it on it takes about 30 seconds to get to the first game screen. 30 seconds dosnt sound like much but when your waiting to play a game it seems like forever. It dosnt seem like a normal boot time for a game but i have nothing to compare it to. Also i dont have a memcard yet (some hold up in shipping) could this somehow be causeing the slow boot times?
Example...
I put in a DVD-R backup (TY media burnt at 4x with DVDDecrypter) of Soul Calibur 3, press power and this is what i get....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...th_boot001.jpg
^THIS^ takes a few seconds
...now it goes black (this is where most of the time is lost) untill i get ..
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...th_boot002.jpg
^THIS^ is the first game screen. Takes a total of 25/30 seconds to get here (including the few seconds above^^)
After that everything works fine ... aside from when im chosing characters it seems to take a while to load what they look like. I'm asuming that is normal for the game.
EDIT Heres a crappy vid of me booting a DVD-R of MGS3 Subsistance Disc 1

Its a lil faster at 27 seconds .. Iduno why i never thought about making a vid before .. will be much easyer for anyone to see if this is normal or not lol.

Thank you! hehe
this sucks :( ..
Can you do me a HUGE favor and try with no mem card?

Try updating your firmware to the latest one V1.82

Try updating your firmware.

Made no difference .. but .. the update disc booted instantly after logo. Like how i would expect a game to boot. So maybe it is the game looking for the memcard?
I should mention that during the long black pause between ps2 logo and game the screen flickers once

I burnt Soul Calibur 3 again on some shity FujiFilm DVD-R (PRODISCF01) at 4x and it does the same thing. Guess ill have to wait till my memcard gets here and HOPE thats the problem..

Turned all options off other then fast boot (so all its doing is just booting the game) and it takes 19 seconds to boot ... still seems faily slow
When i say 30 or 19 seconds i really mean it .. 1-1000 2-1000 3-1000 ... its pretty slow lol ... *sigh*
to me it seems like its trying to do something before it boots the games
Everything boots fine up untill this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ce/boot001.jpg then it goes black, the screen flickers (like its changing or detecting something) and it takes its sweet ass time. lol

is it the real soul caliber game or it a burn one?
