I downloaded the v1.75 firmware upgrade, burnt to CD, and started update, however it didn't move from 0%.
After restart, my PS2 will no longer boot up, with or without a disc.
I can turn on the PS2, but nothing at all appears on screen.

I am trying to recover and reflash the firmware, but have been unable to reset it.
I have pressed the reset button, but that only turns on/off my ps2.

I'm not sure of v, how can I check the version? serial number is attached on ps2.
    what do I do?

    help appreciated.
    thanks.

friend22: It would appear you do have a clone chip. There's no way to check exactly what chip's in the PS2 without opening it up.

For recovery mode, you need to hold down the power button for a second or two, it should then boot up and load up the FW cd.

Judging from what you've said though, that's not going to help. Not moving from 0% + dead almost always means it's a clone chip.

You have no real option now except to replace it. Plus go back to the installer and stab them to death.
