i wanna run dev 2 on my thick ps2 from the hdd, granting that i have an MI chip installed and lens are very weak already, anyone have a step-by-step on how to install dev2 and other things needed to run games directly off the hd using hdloader without having to use the dvd drive?

If you can launch ps2link you can do it over the host interface. Just put your BOOT.ELF (case sensitive) with DEV2I.ELF and execute DEV2I.ELF over host and it'll install it.

Back when I first got a Matrix Infinity I just used their Infinity DEV2 Installer v1.1 software to put uLaunchELF on my Memory Card. Then booted my PS2 in DEV1 mode to start uLaunchELF. Then I formatted my HDD with WinHIIP (newest version is 1.7.6), put the formatted HDD in my PS2, and then I could copy HD Loader to my MC, HDD using uLaunchELF or run it off my USB key.

EDIT: Just make sure if you have a cloned Matrix Infinity that you don't go into your Boot Settings Menu. To boot uLaunchELF from your MC, just hold R1 while starting your PS2. Also, back when I first did this, uLaunchELF was mainly just a .ELF file launcher and file manager, now it also has the ability to format your HDD.

modbo745/760 is a clone of MI, right? it seems like modbo works well with the bootmanager...fortunately or unfortunately
