PS2 V9, MI Green Dot, Erratic Bootup?
PS2 V9, MI Green Dot, Erratic Bootup? –

I've installed the MI Chip, it boots probably 50% of the time. Half the time it hangs on the 'Matrix' splash screen. This is with a legit game. I've tried several real games (not burnt) and they all act the same.
If I disable chip by holding 'start' on pad 1 while booting, it shows disabled, and boots 100%.
FW is at 1.68 according to splash screen, I've not flashed it yet.
How critical are the wiring paths, ie, is noise a possible problem?
Thanks,
Ed

Updated to lastest fw, still same problem. If I restart PS2 with the DVD tray open, it boots via the Infinity 100%.

Probably answered my own question. Standard "try this newb' tip seems to be shorten lead length and minimize crossovers - two things I know I've done badly.
Tomorrows project - dress it up a bit.

Before I tear this thing apart again...
Can anyone recommend the 'accepted' location to mount the chip in a v9 to minimize lead length?
Thanks!

This isn't my image, but this is where I put the chip and seems to be the accepted location.

Makes a hell of a lot more sense than where I put it. Thanks!
