I have installed matrix infinity modchip 1.36 in my v12 ps2 and diode fix. It is working fine.
When i enter into set up by pressing TRIANGEL and Circle button and change the Boot mode to FAST. After saving settings, when i press reset button the screen remains black and when i again press reset button then the ps2 starts and it does not boot backup games. It displays PLEASE INSER PLAYSTATION2 FORMAT DISC.
It runs DVD movies fine but unable to boot games.

Please help me out of this..

    Thanks

I was not sure where to post this or whether this question has been asked before. Can any one Tell Me which Ps2 Version is easier to Mod with a chip
I have version 10 and it's hard for me since there are alot soldering involve in those Black chips tiny leg that are on the motherboard itself. I was going to install a dms4 pro so i decided not to do it; how ever i'm going to buy another one from the pawnshop so any input we'll be greatly appreciated

You said that the PS2 was working fine before changing settings.
Try to change settings in the config. menu back to the original settings, see what happens. Then you can upgrade the firmware.
You also can force it to upgrade by holding the reset button for 1.5 - 2 sec.

I also have this problem, but accept i didn't change any settings, just one day i was playing a game and it froze, i restarted and it never booted up.
It gave me a "Please insert playstation 2 format disc".

I tried to do a force upgrade by holding the reset button for 5 seconds, nothing just a black screen.

I don't know what happen, did the chip fry? is it dead? if this proceeds i'm just going to get a new chip ;(

if you have installed a original infinity it is possible to upgrade it to a new firmware through recovery mode (holding the resetpower button 1,5 second) the it should boot the firmware update even if the eeprom with your settings is corrupted,
But i am afraid that you are not using a authentic infinity but a Modbo or something like that,if you change the settings with those clones the chip die !
and the solution then is to replace it with a original.

if you are sure you have a original and the recovery mod is not working you have to check all your solderpoints again,
