PS2 Shutting Off With Particular DVD

Hi There,

I have a v12 PS2 with Matrix Infinity, upgraded to latest v1.75 fw.

I have an original DVD here that when I put it in and try to watch it, the PS2 will start to boot it then shutdown (The green light turns red)

It doesn't matter if the mod-chip is enabled or not, so I don't think that's what's causing it.

Has anyone heard of this happening before? Other DVDs seem to play fine, my backups all boot fine etc. It's just this one DVD.

I'm not sure if the Matrix Section is the right section to post this, but I am assuming for the moment that it might somehow be involved (Even though I see the same thing with it disabled...)

Did you put a laser fix in the V12 and if so which one?

There is a laser fix in it, yes. I didn't do the install so I don't know which one.

I can probably find out though.

If its any of the PIC based fixes then the fix is doing its job. The disc might be making the mechacon crash then the fix is taking over and turning off your console so your laser doesn't fry.
