Just wanna update:
This problem is back again.
It has come and go on a regular basis.
Maybe it's due to my first batch MI greendot.

Just wanna update:
This problem is back again.
It has come and go on a regular basis.

update it to 1.82 or just get a new laser
Man .... PS2 can only read MODE2-XA discs !!!! Mode 1 discs won't work.
IT WILL REFUSE TO READ CDS burn in mode1 (PC CD-Roms are mode1)
When burning discs for PS2 make sure to burn on the right format.
CD: Mode2-XA ISO/Joilet. No, the PS2 is NOT joilet compatible, but since joilet
has ISO 9660 names under it, the PS2 will eat it.
DVD: ISO/UDF (Same kind of filesystem used on DVD video discs) Most windoze burning programs will be able to create ISO/Joilet DVDs that will only read on other windows PCs or MAC. These won't work on the PS2 too.
Other important thing is burn the discs at the slowest speed possible for sake of having the strongest laser signal return possible so the PS2 doesn't have to overpower the laser to read the disc.
Nero is capable of creating CD discs on MODE2-XA and DVD discs on ISO/UDF formats. Just need to thinker abit with it's menus.
I hope this information is useful for you. Regards
P.S.: If you're having issues with game backups also then you have hardware problems as games aways have the right filesystem (as long they were not hacked/rebuilt) I heard a lot of complaints of MI users about media compatibility and low boot rates with the lattest batch of slimline PS2s.
Forgot to mention that it's not a cold solder problem, at least that's what my installer told me. Before sending my console to him I tested booting my dvd games and they worked, lol. But I decided to send it to him anyway just to make sure, and he found nothing wrong with it - all kinds of media that should work, worked.
When I got the console, tested with a few games for a while and everything worked all right.
So I figured, alright everything's fine now, back to playing game via HDloader.
Recently I decided to play a backup game that is not on the HDD, and to my dismay it didn't boot. Tried many other games, won't boot as well. These games worked flawlessly before.
I can boot (and play) backup PS1 games if I use the force boot method.
I can boot music cds.
Bear in mind that this problem has come and go on a regular basis.
Btw, is it true that the lens will have to work harder when playing PS1 games?
Just tried booting dvd movies. They worked.
So it's DEFINITELY not my lens.
you say you have a "NTSC/J SCPH-30006 R" maybe all you need is a small "pot" ajustment, is it only backups that have problems; when backup games do play do you have stuttering in the cutsceens? I am not sure but I think the dvd movie reading speeds are only at 1x.
Nope, even the originals won't boot. But my originals are PAL.
The backup games worked flawlessly before.
Anyway, after numerous tries, I managed to update my FW to 1.82.
Still no luck. I've stopped trying to boot dvd games for now. Damn it.
U can try doing this
No luck.
It's really the chip I guess.
Hello,
I installed my Matrix Infinity Green Dot yesterday, everything workeed perfectly, but after about an hour it stopped reading (DVD's games and Movies including backups). PSONE and CD-based games (backups and originals) work fine.
I did notice that it I unplug the PSTWO for a couple hours and then try again it will boot DVD but then it will fail at a later stage, and then it will not boot again.
I will try and e-mail the MATRIX INFINITY manufacturers.
