Problems w V12 install
So I'm having some major issues with my V12 Martix Infinity install. All of the wires installed look perfect. I am working from this install diagram: http://www.modchip.com/installpics/m...ty/USA-V12.jpg
My MI chip has the greenish/ blue dot in the upper left hand corner. Also note that this is the second attempt at soldering this in with no luck. During the first install attempt, I accidently broke the component off that wire SX gets soldered to. I gave up after that and removed all of the wires so far. After closing up the PS2 and powering on it worked no problem (going on 6 months now) even with the component missing. The second time I attempted the install (this time) no picture or sound comes on after I power the system on. The LED does turn green however. After the system hangs and I reset, the system turns on for only a second or two then shuts off (still with no picture or sound). Does this have to do with the missing component at point SX?
I then opened up the PS2 again and tried bridging the point SXto fix it. Still nothing. Does that component that fell off of the board need to be replaced? If so what is it and where do I get one? If not where could my problems be rooting from?
1 more note
I didn't install the Laser Fix yet. Would this be causing the system to free upon loading?
You should install the laser fix anyway, but I don't think this is the cause.
About the missing component. You say the PSTwo works well if it is not modified. So probably the missing component doesn't cause a problem when you installed the chip. According to the official Matrix Infinity diagram, the SX-point is connected to a capacitor. Sometimes a electronic device can work well without such a component, dependent on the function of the capacitor.
About bridging the SX-point. What have you done exactly ? Never bridge the connections on both sides of the component !!!
What maybe can cause your problem is that you have a homebrew version of the Matrix Infinity. Earlier this year the Matrix Team accidently distributed a series of homebrew versions of the M.I. Result : a black screen on startup.
Solution: from standby, push and hold the RESET-button several seconds and the PSTwo should startup. Then you can program/flash the M.I. with a firmware upgrade CD. You can download the firmware from the official Matrix and burn it to CD.
Maybe this will solve your problem, maybe not.
(What I don't understand is that your console switches off two seconds after RESET, but maybe it has the same cause)
Thanks for the info, however still doesn't help :( I removed the MI from the ps2 and desoldered all of the points with my desolder braid and the ps2 still just goes black screen when powered up and then won't stay powered. Any ideas on what I should do?
if you still have your sx point bridged then you need to desolder it. Your black screen and power issues can also be caused by blown ps fuses. I'd check with a meter that your fuses are all ok and that you haven't inadvertantly left any bridges.
I checked all of the fuses with my multitester and they're fine. I checked with a lighted magnifying glass that all points were not gapped and they're fine. There is currently no modchip or laser fix installed in my PS2 and it still powers on for just a second and powers off instantly. I can't imagine what it may be. Please help!
some kind of grounding issue you have
I don't think it will help, but you can try to disconnect the laser unit (by unplugging the three cables) and see what happens.
