    Hi,

I bought a playstation 2 of a friend last week and ordered a Matrix Infinity chip. This playstation 2 is a PAL version 4 one.
I can play my original PS2 games and copies of them in the Playstation.

However when I try to load a PSX game (Resident Evil 2 or 3) which I burned yesterday the playstation won't load this game. It starts and gets stuck at the Playstation 1 logo screen so it does recognize a ps game but won't start the game. I tried to burn it on a different media (philips and some other brand) and using different pc's but none of them are working. I'm using alcohol 120% with the playstation profile (tried DAO/SAO and RAW/DAO)
I found some old playstation 1 games on my room and these DO work (Original and copies of them) ... very strange. The only difference I can find is that these games are burned on a 74 minutes medium and the new ones on 80 minutes.

Does this has something to do with the chip or just with the copy of the game. I just can't get new copies of PS1 games to work.

Yes I can play original PS2 games and I can copy them on my pc and play them. No problems with PS2 games.

I got an original Resident evil 2 and 3 game of the PSX which work but a copy of it doesn't work. PSX copies that are 4 years old do work for some reason.

No didn't try this yet, will do that soon. If I remember correctly the Resident Evil 2 game doesn't have an anti-modchip protection right ? Could the anti-modchip protection cause any problems ?

I have working backups of Resident Evil 2 and 3. I used a program called Clone CD. Resident Evil PS1 games have sectors in them that not all programs can read. Clone CD reads all the sub-sectors of CD based games. I have both working on Maxell 80 min. Cd's. DJ

    EDIT:

I'm not sure about that, my PS2's don't have mod chips. DJ

I will try clonecd and let you know. It's very strange since the backup will run on the pc using an emulator.
    Thanks so far people !

@DJ- There are PS1 games, like Metal Gear Solid, that have Anti-Modchip-Protection.

Sony has not only fought back against people using game enhancers to play backups/imports, but has also fought back against people using mod chips to play originals/copies/imports. Games featuring the new, unofficially named "anti-modchip protection" loads the country code from an original Playstation disc at different times in different increments during bootup. A mod chip only "plugs in" the country code once in one shot during bootup. Copies of anti-modchip games, and even the original anti-modchip games themselves, do not boot up as they wait for the country code to be "plugged in" when they request it, and since the mod chip has priority over the disc's country code, that information is never sent to the Playstation when requested and the game hangs. Stealth modchips have been developed to counter this problem. Game enhancers have always defeated this problem as anti-modchip games work fine with game enhancers since they allow people who own either non-stealth modchips (older modchips) or no modchip at all to play anti-modchip games and backups by means of either using codes found online with their game enhancer or by using a special swap method.
I hope this is what you want to know...

In that case the original wouldn't work aswell with the modchip. djflexmaster79 got a copy of RE2 and RE3 that work well.

I copied the game with clone-cd but it still doesn't work. The playstation gets stuck at the Playstation 1 Title screen. It stops reading what means I need to reset the PS2 to work propperly again.

Indeed. psx games do have modchip protection, however, matrix infinity has anti-mod chip protection features.

And as i saw in an earlier post, use CLONE CD! For ripping and burning, the sub channels are indeed very important!

i had made several coasters b4 i started using this progam.
