Odd ps1 problem.

Got a odd problem with loading playstation games on my V15.

If I just put the game in , it boots and goes to a black screen , it also appears to bypass the playstation logo (quick boot?). Then the disc will stop and do nothing , yet if I open the lid , then shut it again , the game will carry on and load.

How ever if I hold O on start up , then the games boot 100% of the time and I get the playstation 1 logo.

Also on one one or two games there seems to be a black bar at the bottom even with screen fix on, as if the image is shifted up. Seems to be no pattern to which games do it , just a few.

Any ideas? , why do I not get the playstation one logo unless I hold O?. I've searched and found one thread with a similar prob , but no solution.

Matrix infinity green dot , 1.93 firmware and a v15 pal ps2.


Not so much of a problem as don't really play ps1 games , just wondering why it be doing this.

Brand new v15 , all games on verbatim or taiyo yuden cd-rs.

Problems with PSX games not auto booting well have to do mostly with the reset line I have found. It can pick up signals from the mobo or the other chip wires its self and not boot into PSX mod well. maybe try running the PSX wire differently. Holding circle bypasses the auto boot and forces the chip into PSX mod. As for your other question about screen position... I cant really say.

Reset wire is running pretty much straight to where it needs to be. The wire for psx (sx is it?) I ran up and under the chip legs to the sx point like I seen it alot of installs.

Think I may just leave as it is , mainly play ps2 games was only testing , I'll just hold circle if I need to play em. Was just wondering what may cause it.

i have this problem aswell, no one seemed to know a solution to the problem when i asked about it on this forums so i now just get used to it, the big black border at the bottom of the screen on some games is annoying though, when i first got the premod slim ps2 it worked fine i got the playstation logo when i played playstation games, now it never appears. btw i don't have to press circle to boot my ps1 games, but it does stop spinning when i first put the disc in the ps2, i just reset and it loads the second time.

ps2 slimline v14 usa. Loads ps2 game fine. Black screen on black up ps1 game. My console treats original ps1 games as audio cd? any suggestions or help ?

I have somewhat similar problems with my V4 MI. It boots to a black screen on ps1 discs. It recognizes the disc in the browser (backups and originals) but doesn't boot it. Circle does'nt work either, actually its worse it recognizes all ps1 games as audio discs. Funny thing is it didn't do this before just seemed to slowly happen.
