New V15 Mod Questions
New V15 Mod Questions –
I am owner of a new Slim v15 PS2 (Mod SCPH-77001). I don't know if it is an v15a or v15b, however the questions below should apply to either...
I'm new to the console world, however tons of experience in the PC world. Reading though all the posts to learn things from scratch gets confusing when you don't know all the acronyms that are being used or failure with some of the products/software being referenced. So I thought I'd just lay out what I want to accomplish to see if it is possible or not hopefully someone can respond to tell me how I need to go about it.
I want to be able to:
- Run normal original game disks.
- Run backup copies of game disks.
- Run games from a USB HDD.
I have read enough to know that I need to install a mod chip, which I feel comfortable in doing (use to do component level repair on Marine Corps Airstation.) The confusing part of things is that most of the information out there is for older versions of the PS2. And most of the HDD discussion is related to IDE mods that connect to the PS2's systemboard which are not in the v15 systems (reason to run games from USB HDD).
So a few things that I'd like to know is:
- What Modchip?
- What Hardware?
- What Software?
- Is this possible?
First off, order a Matrix Infinity Green dot from www. mod-chip . com, get the kit for 49 bucks I think, comes w/ chip ,wire, desoldering braid and solder.
Get a Seagate or Western Digital external hdd from 40G-1TB
The software you need is USBExtreme/Usb hddloader and everything you want will be possible
Thank you very much DeathAngel!!!
Better option, order Matrix Infinity or Crystal Chip 2.0 from "foundmy . com". Cheaper and same thing.
What are the differences between the infinity and the crystal chip, other than the crystal chip is modeled after the DSM4???

I have had a chance to do some reading on these two products and they seem to do the same thing. Was your statement ment as an either or (use USBExtreme or USB HDLoader)?

(FYI.. would have put it as a URL but I can't unless I have 15 posts on these forums.)
I was half asleep when I posted that...UsbExtreme was what i meant..
But i guess you could use either of the 2... Sorry for any confusion
