i recently got a MI chip for my v3 ps2. i have a question regarding the 2 installation pictures, one says NO GAP BIOS and the other says GAP BIOS. what exactly does this mean and which should i follow? also i am having trouble getting the mobo in my v3 out of the case, or is there no need to actually remove it before soldering? any tips when soldering to the actual 'prongs' of the chips that go into mobo, aka preventing bridging nearby points. thanks for any help.

some v3 ps2's the bios chip is on the opposite of the mobo(not the side facing you when you take the heat sink off the board
    gap and no gap
no gap means the bios chip will have a continuse row of pins either side

gap means the row will be broken with a gap of 2-3 pins either side

    look there m8

top picture shows underside of board with gap bios chip

1 way to prevent bridging the pins is to use a razor blade slide between pins and held in place with playdo or similar.
be careful not to damage the pins or board etc

    hope this helps

Ok, thanks for your pointers. I am going to begin soldering the wires to the actual points on the mobo, but i have a question about soldering the wires to the actual chip. Eg. the points such as GND and 3.3V on the chip have holes going through the pcb, am i supposed to pass the corresponding wires through those individual holes and simply solder them down to the point? Also, can i just mount the MI chip inside the expansion bay area? Thanks.

well the MI is installed on my v3 ps2 and i have a couple more questions. i havent upgraded the firmware yet, but the reset button turns off after you press it to load from standby.. dont know if its supposed to..i do however get the Matrix logo on boot up. when loading a game i got to the first menu for the game which was a save game question asking which slot to save to, after that i got a black screen that didnt change.
