    Hello,

I recently bought a matrix infinity (green dot which is current version I believe). I have been installing it in my slim ps2 tonight model V14-GH041-33 (using diagram from the matrix team website). However I do have one problem. I find it impossible to connect points G and H to the vias shown on the diagram. What I need to find out is alternate points on the main board to connect these 2 connections. Alternate points for B and I would be good too.

    Thanks,

I'd recommend to use the vias instead of soldering directly to the DSP. Get a really thin wire. You need to scrape off the green paint before soldering.

    Thanks for the info,

The vias are what gave me the most trouble. Specifically G and I. I've got more experience dealing with the QFP parts. Right now the solder I'm using is not ideal, its good enough solder but a wider gauge than I'd like for smd work, the wire I'm using is reasonable quality 30 gauge wire which is ok on most of the ic's and landing pads but a bit large for the vias. Lighter gauge wire than that is very hard to find and monsterously expensive.

if you can't solder to the via's its doubtfull you will be able to solder to those legs, i wouldn't recommend it as they are extremely easy to push in with a little heat applied.

just scrape the via's off with a sharp blade and make sure you use flux and you should be ok, 30 awg is more than fine enough, thats what everyone else uses
