MX4 + v4 :: Worked fine, now no more backups

Hey,

I've chipped this v4 with a MX4 everything worked fine

soldered, flashed
tested:
- dvd-r (game, movie) (princo)
- dvd+r (game, movie) (platinum)
- cd-r (audio) (golden dye)

then after a week or so, it started NOT playing dvd+r anymore .. only dvd-r worked .. now, one week later it will play no backups at all, only thing that runs are:

- Original games
- Original movies
- cd-r (audio)
- cd-r (the flash cd for the Matrix MX4 (through holding RESET etc))

the rest gives me (after some cd/dvd spinning) the red screen.
laser worn out? laser dirty?

Anyone an idea what's going on here?
