Modbo 4 - Dev Mode

Hi Guys,
I have a version 18 PS2 and I had a ModBo 4 installed in to it.

I have yet to test copied games but I just installed to the memory card

uLaunchElf
SMS 2.9
PS2NET

I have SMS 2.9 connecting to a NAS device and I can play content on a UNC share.

I set the Modbo to boot on 'Dev1' (my understanding it is the memory card).

My issue is only around 1/5 boots it will hit the memory card.

How can I make it reliably boot off my memory card?

Starting to get pissed off at the sporadic nature.

Is there an issue with my installation.

I am a bit of a noob

For DEV1 did you rename your app to BOOT.ELF and did you place it inside the BOOT directory(you have to create it).Also my modchip is combination between ModBo and Matrix Infinity and maybe you'll have the same thing as me...I can create a folder named MATRIXTEAM and place another program there with name MANAGER.ELF and in that way when I use R1 I'll load an app in mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF and with triangle mc0:/MATRIXTEAM/MANAGER.ELF

first of all thanks for the reply. My Modchip is a combiniation of Modbo and Matrix Infinity. When it boots I see the Matrix logo.

I have uLaunchElf located at mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF and I am trying to use R1 to access it. It may work maybe 1/4 times.

If I do what you suggested and place a file at mc0:/MATRIXTEAM/MANAGER.ELF

What should MANAGER.ELF contain?

Is it just a blank dummy file?

Maybe you have a clone memory card...try using an original 8mb memory card..

yeah since it does work at lest then you may have a bad memory card or Memory Card ports got Dirty ...run uLaunchELF from another loacation like CD/DVD or HDD ..or even USB Drive and you will know if its chips fault or not ..

Whatever app you want,it's the same thing as BOOT.ELF but here it must be placed in MATRIXTEAM folder and named MANAGER.ELF and of course this will work only if your modchip have another button for booting apps except R1.

I use R1 for Ule and triangle for HDLOADER.

And in the end...yes it could be your memory card fault.What memory card you have?

I will try this, my card is a generic 16mb. I didnt realise these could be unrelaible.
I am thinking a USB thumb drive is the way to go.

What mode to I need to set the machine to boot up from. Currently it is dev1

Is Dev2 mode purely for HDD. I do not have a HDD in my PS2 (V18).

How can I configure it to boot off my USB thumb drive.

ohh i thought you are using HDL ...playing games off hdd ..

and yes Dev2 is for HDD ..since you dont have HDD and your either cannot install internal HDD for your PS2 version its useless for ya ..

well you cannot but you can use uLaunchELF disk and then you can run elfs from USB Drive ( FAT32)
