    I have installed a modbo 1.1.it plays ps2cd backups it plays ps2dvd originals but non dvd backups.I have upgraded it to v1.39 and downgraded it to V1.36 but i have the same problem.I would be more than greatful of any help.

    i also used the 2 resisitor fix 5,6 and 4,7

    Uhm, 560 ohms resistor and 4.7k resistor right? Not 5.6k. If it's not booting backups then you should check the bios pins and vias.

    sounds like the laser is worn out. what model is your ps2?
    If its a V12, try removing the resistor fix and see if it fixes the problem.

    its v12 and my mistake the resistors are correct. I am going to open it up again and check point H and the bios vias thanks. I will let you know how i get on tomorrow
