    Hi.

I Just installed a MI Original Chip into my Ps2 V5/6 Pal. It boots original ps2 games, and the Dev2 Installation cd just perfect.

It should be told, that the laser aint what it had been. but it reads DVD's very well.. it is the cd's that are the problem

I tryed burning Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart onto a DVD-R From Princo.. It says Ps2, MI 1.75 And then it goes to black screen.

Also Tried Tekken 5, Burn it to a DVD-R From Princo. It Shows the ps2 logo. AND shows the Namco logo as well.. and then it stops.

I cannot also read Verbatim DVD-RW Discs, as i tryed the same disc to tekken and the Dev2 software.

I Checked all my installations very carfully, and it were done with a Weller station, and a 0,4 mm head. So it's not the equipment.

Also Ohm'd all the installations... no problem here.

    What can it be ?

Looking forward to an answer =)

I think you answered yourself, your laser is going bye bye. Lower the resistance of the pots and you will get your laser to read properly again

replace the laser. imo fiddeling with the pots will only squeeze a little more life out of the laser before it dies.

u could have the homebrew firmware on your chip. they sometimes ship them like that. Homebrew can only load homebrew software, no backups.

Upgrade to firmware version 1.75 from there site.

And dont use PRINCo DVD's they are the worst media ever.

Hahahaha ! Princo has a unique feature... It has self destruct in 24 hrs ! lol
Burn a princo disc and play for 24hrs. After that it gets totally unreadable ! ROFL

haha, true lol, they really really suck, but still they should boot at least one time lol.

flash your chip with the latest firmware 1.75 from the matrix website.

I used the Nero software to the Dev2 cd's. Tried DVD Decrypter to Crash Bandicoot nitro kart, and used Alhohol 120% to tekken 5
