Hello, my ps2 stopped playing backups. I opened it and found G and H smashed together on the bottom side of the MB Actually rubbed thru wire insulation. Will cause damage to the chip? I seperated and isolated them but still not work. Will I need to install a new chip? P.S. Is this an offidial MI? It was installed by Amreican Modz at the begining of the 2005. Also is this a v9 board GH-023 ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

If you shorted it like that then it's most likely to fry the chip. Maybe even blow some fuses on the ps2. So check all the fuses and see if any are blown.

TY for reply, The ps2 still plays originals with with no problem, so that is why I am thinking only chip is fried. I will start with new chip.
    TY again,

You should just check the fuses anyways. Cause shorting usually causes fuse to blow. Sometimes fuses that are blown are not required for the ps2 to turn on and boot games (such as fuse for shock effect on the controller).
