MI Orange Dot for v14?

I have the v14 with board GH-040-52 with the Matrix Infinity Orange dot chip. I heard it will work but I need to upgrade firmware to 1.75; I installed the chip, playstion worked like the chip was never there, tried putting the firmware upgrade CD I made and it gave me the red "wrong CD" screen.

Currently I am re-installing the chip to make sure I didn't make any bridges or do anything wrong... but please someone tell me if the Orange dot actually works in the v14's.

And once I have this installed onto the PS2... how do I upgrade the firmware; last time when I pressed the triangle and the circle button it never did anything. Just stayed on the black screen. Any help is VERY welcome!!!

No way.You need green dot chip.

What about the upgrade and firmware on the Matrix Infinity homepage?

Upgrade is compatible with all infinity's so you can use 1.75 features also on older infinity's

but the Greendots are the only one who are compatible with v14 and higher
because some changes where made on the Actel chip this is not possible true a firmware update

I was just told by the guy that runs www.tampabaymods.com that the chip will work; He can put it in a lower version, upgrade the firmware and then install it into the v14 and it should work properly... is this true before I waste the time to do this?

I tried this as well with a blue dot. Installed into a V12 and updated fine but still would not work in V14 - black screen.

Learned my V14-orange dot lesson the hard way: Bought an orange dot from modchipstore.com, who said orange dot WOULD work with V1-14. WRONG!

Emailed modchipstore.com's "Support Area." No reply.

Ordered a green dot from xmodds.com. Works great in the V14! Picked up a used V12, and the orange dot (and laser fix) works great as well!

Will order again from xmodds.com.

So if I get the green dot with the v14 do I need to install the laser fix?
