MI not reading Backups

I have a Slim PS2 with MI FW 1.93, i can access (and update the fw) the config menu and boot originals imports as well) but all backups won't load (they all work with Crystal Chip), the chip read the FW update disc with no problems and the chip is not a clone, so what's wrong...oh if try to play a backup it goes back to the ps2 browser after a while and there it shows the disc as dvd video...
