MI Networking Question?
Hello guys! I had placed my Matrix Infinity console on the backburner for the past couple years. I had purchased a Crystal Chip console before that & eventually pretty much switched to that one all the time because I seemed to like it better.
Now, that CC console appears to have problems so I'm probably bringing back the MI one to more playing time. I had my CC into the networking thing so I am interested in getting the MI into that too.
The CC used a feature called "Application Browser" that you could use to install apps to devices(MC,HDD,etc.). I never had the MI into networking so I'm not familar with networking on the MI console.
I have searched through the forums about networking with the MI but can't find too much information. Can you use networking now to upgrade/install applications/firmware to the MI chip? I don't want to fool with any more CD's since I have networking capability. I hope the MI has these features. Also, I remember that my laser was acting up sometimes with this MI so the more need for networking to install/upgrade things. I have a feeling that my laser will crash sometime in the near future on this console. Thanks guys! :chinscrat
well, matrix is not as advanced as the cc is. it mainly relies on homebrew such as uLE for any real application browsing and "installing" Also no scripts are involved with it either. The infinity manager is an archaic program that has no real benefit to any user.
As for networking. the MI has nothing to do with it. Any networking involved is deal with which ever homebrew needs it.
Thanks for the response Bootleg! However, what I'm mainly was trying to get at was about installing/upgrading the FW via a network instead of using CD's. Kind of like the CC in that you can update/upgrade the BM & FW through networking(PS2Link) means. I have used ULE & SMS with this MI but it has been a good while now & I've never used it via networking. Is there a way to update/upgrade the FW through networking(PC to PS2) means? Thanks again! :)

Anyway, aren't CDs like $0.1 ? Why begin so cheap for a single CD?
Why would I want to use CD's when I have networking available for things like this? I perfectly realize that CD's are cheap & don't care about that but I do have networking means so I just wanted to know if this route was available for the Matrix chip since I haven't really used this console in a good while now. Plus, I stated that this MI console was showing signs of laser problems so that's the more need for hoping the networking route was available. Oh well! I guess this one will still stay as my spare chipped console. Thanks! :wow:

So I would say its really a waste of a CD unless (god willing) the matrix team comes out with 2.0
To be perfectly honest, I can't remember when the last time I upgraded the firmware with the MI console. I think I may have 1.88 but I 'll have to check to see. This console hasn't been used at all in the past 18 months so it's a bit rusty. I still want to use it though because I like the MI too. I really just have it in another room for playing purposes when I can't access the other 2 playing rooms like when we have company over for a vacation stay or something along those lines. Thanks again! :)

You'll need to edit DATA.BIN too:
@ 0x1F28 you'll find:
Change it to:
Well, here are the files (data.bin already edited), you'll need to put both them on MC on subdirectory MI (mc0:\MI\), then run I.ELF from launchELF.
