    Hey,

I successfully installed a Matrix Infinity on a PS2 V4. PS2 backups work fine, but PSX backups won't load. It tries to load, shows a black screen for a few seconds and then the Red screen saying you should insert a PS\PS2 compatible media shows up. I guess it's one of the wires, but I already checked everything with a multimeter and the wires are as short as possible.
If it is one of the wires, do you know which one it would be?

    thx

It might be the lazer. Make sure you don't have the same problem with backup PS2 CDs and audio CDs.

Yes you're right, it was the SX wire! Thank you so much

But I've problems reading PS2 backups now. I noticed the laser only accepts one type of media (Intenso) without any problems, while anything else doesn't boot. Originals and Imports work flawlessly. I got the PS2 off ebay, so I don't know in what condition the laser is. However, I shorted the Y point on the Modchip with this little soldering point right next to it and I can't get them apart! Do you know what the Y point does and if that could be the source of my problem? I already tried adjusting the laser, I haven't changed the potis yet.

EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't short it. I didn't see that the little point right next to Y is were already connected in the first place ..

check that you burned it right and try with "force to psx mode" (key circle at boot screen)

My psx games start with bit delay. Check those and if wont work its probably lazer.

Thx for your support guys. I fixed the problem by turning the potis down just a little bit, now my PS2 can read all backups. I'll use only those medias mentioned by you in the future, jenko.
