MI Installation Problem
MI Installation Problem –
A little intro, to maybe help rule some things out. I bought a matrix infinity from the "official usa reseller" linked at their site. I installed it per their specifications using their diagram all from their site for my version of the ps2 (V12 (i'm positive)). Note that I'm 100% positive I installed it correctly as I am highly familiar with soldering pcbs as this is what I do for a living.
Now, with all that considered, here's what's happening. Upon booting up the ps2, the matrix logo appears and at the same time the driving unit for the laser pushes the laser all the way forward to the disc spinning device and briefly makes a dull buzz/rattle sound, and then the laser is moved back to what I assume is the starting position (not quite all the way back).
This will then happen every time I push the flip cover fully down, whether there is a disc in it or not. So, every time it needs to read a disc. Everything else seems to be working fine. I can access ps2 browser perfectly and look through memory cards, etc. I can boot in to the MI settings and change and save them fine.
So, I'm hoping someone else may have encountered this before and has an idea of how to fix it. Thanks in advance.
As an addendum. Maybe someone could tell me which points on the chip might have something specifically to do with driving the motor for the laser and working the laser itself. I'd like to try disconnecting those points to see if it makes a difference.
One more thing, am I right in assuming that The Matrix Team has no way of directly contacting them for support? They just rely on the community to help themselves? I couldn't find any email addresses or anything on their website
You probably want to look at the A-I pins.
