    Hi,
    I have a v12 modded with matrix infinity (with somekind of laser protection - not sure which one) for almost a year now. everything works great...
    the problem is when I try to open the config screen (/\+O), the sceens pops for a second or two and than the ps shuts down.
    I only noticed it when recently updated to Firmware V1.68 (never even tried to open the config screen before).
    same thing happens when try to load a memory card app (by pressing R1 = mc0://boot/boot.elf) - the app -uLaunchELF v3.41p- starts for a few seconds and than shuts down.
    when I start the BOOT.ELF through a startup cd i made everything loads fine, it only happans when trying to boot with the dev1 button (R1).
    Im almost certine the chip is original and was installed properly.

    I would appriciate some help but please keep in mind Im very new to this all mc0 exploit/elf/dev1/world domination/... thing so go easy on the "big words"

    p.s sorry for my shitty english.

    R1 = mc0://boot/boot.elf), ur wrong there m8...

    its: mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF, nót mc0:// <---

    use CAPS and only óne /

    make sure that MCAPPS.DAT is correctly configured.

    When u have an install cd with this INSTALL.CNF file configured like this:
    ================================================== ====
    HDLoader 0.7c MDMA 2.4
    mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
    MD mc0:/BOOT
    CP cdrom0:/BOOT.ELF;1 mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF

    ================================================== =====

    it will make a DIR called BOOT on your mc0:/ and it will also copy the BOOT.ELF file on your install cd, into that directoy.

    Now...that BOOT.ELF file will start if u press and hold R1.
    u can do the same thing with other apps called BOOT2.ELF or BOOT3.ELF.
    wich are buttons L2 and R2.

    (only if u have firmware 1.75 )

    R1 is DEV2 mode, a file sitting in the root on your HDD.

    U can also install ExecFTp first as DEV1 boot. and then manualy configure the MCAPPS.DAT, (/mc/0/MATRIXTEAM/MCAPPS.DAT) thrue FTP.
    Hold R1 to strta ExecFTP...
    Start flash fxp, login and copy the elfs BOOT2.ELF and BOOT3.ELF to /mc/0/BOOT/

    U dont have to configure MCAPPS.DAT for this to work with buttons L2 and R2.
    but if u configure it, it will show up in your matrix manager menu .

    MCAPPS.DAT has to be configured with an HEX editor!

    it should look like this..

    HDLOADER 0.7C MDMA 2.4.mc0:BOOT/BOOT.ELF.EXECFTP 0.69.mc0:/BOOT/BOOT2.ELF.DMS HDD FORMAT.mc0:/BOOT/HDDFORMAT/HDDFRMT.ELF.My Ps2.mc0:/BOOT/MYPS2/MYPS2.ELF.

    Good luck

    Firts of all thanks for the reply.
    the BOOT.ELF I have installed in mc0 IS in the right place (mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF), because when Press the dev1 button (R1) on boot it does launch the file (uLaunchELF v3.41p) - so I guess I just didnt write it down correctly here. The problem is when I try to launch it with R1 and not with the boot disk - when I press R1 in boot uLaunchELF loads up fine but after a second or two the ps2 (v12) shuts down.. kinda wierd, I know.

    Dont have the slightest clue what MCAPPS.DAT is, If its Infinity manager related I dont have it because I didnt installed it yet (I couldnt figure out how to install it without flashing the Firmware - thrue a usb stick Im using or whatever, second I couldnt find any documantion of it so I dont even know what it accually does)

    So far so good (Good to know how to make an INSTALL.CNF file, Thanks for the info )

    R1 is the DEV1 Button ("DEV1 : Execute BOOT.ELF on mc0: Same as Pressing R1 on boot." - readmeV175.txt)
    Anyway I dont have an HD and network connection installed yet but again it good to know "how to"

    ok m8, u can find infinity manager and other stuff HERE.

    (it actually is 1.36 firmware, but it also contains infinity manager, so dont do the firmware upgrade, just install infinity manager)

    Now u can easily install apps on your memcard.

    Here is a tutorial too, u can learn a lot from it, good luck again

    Click here to download the tutorial

    Thanks for the links broodje, It helps me alot.

    p.s. how do I install Infinity manager "stand alone" (without flashing the frameware, e.g what files/dirs should I make/copy)?

    Again, I can use some help about my original post (about ps2 shuting down whenever entering config screen/booting in DEV1 mode)

    delete boot\boot.elf
    remake new boot directory and add boot.elf again and then try

    Have you tried downgrading the firmware to before you had the problem
