MI Chip bricked. –
01-10-2007,07:27 AM
Hello everyone... Im new here.... here is my problem:
About 2 years ago I bought the Matrix Infinty Chip (Ver 1.38).
Until now everything worked perfectly.
Yesterday I tried to update the FW system to Ver 1.93.
I burned the CD and executed the update in my PS2, pressed the "Start" button and it said "Programming: 0%" and stayed like that... i thought it might be slow and leaved the PS2 working on it all the night.
In the next morning I saw that its still on "0%" so I decided to restart the PS2 and try again.
The disc was didnt read-able, I tryed my copied games and they didnt worked too! only the original games worked (Like the chip isnt exist!).
I tryed to use the Recovery Mod but i dont know how use it, I have the "thin" PS2 model (SCPH 700004).... he have only 1 button and no Blue led.
Ive searched in this forum before i posted this topic and I saw this happening to people that have Clone Chip, someone can explain to me what is this? fake chip or something like that? because I bought my chip in 150 USD! so I dont believe I have a a fake chip.
So if someone can help me, I would really be happy... Meybe something with the "Recovery Mod".... ANYTHING!
Thanks, Or.

Can you define\explain Clone ?

lets just say its fake then, its not from the matrix team, some people make a chip exactly or almost looking like a matrix chip, but it is built of cheaper parts and all, and they cant be upgraded and some cant even enter config menu,
theyre also working chips but bad,
most of the time they work well but some of them just dont, so iguess your ripped off by paying 150USD for a clone.

A modchip of which the design and firmware have been copied from original infinity. In most cases with less quality than orginal. If you install an original new firmware, it screws up your chip. No way to recover.

I also think so. Also 150 USD for original chip whould be too much, anyhow in my country.

in my country also, in holland everything is way more expensive, the cheapest price you can get a real infinity is ?70,-(Euro's) but still, its even more expensive than a real infinity
clones and fakes shouldnt be allowed

Im from Israel.
This price in Shekels was (1.5 Years ago) 600 - Means 139.5 USD exactly.
Now, its 400 Shekels - Means 93 USD exactly.... and its the lowest price in the country =\
