Hey everyone
I'm new to this site, all support forum help from the top 3 mod-chips led me here.
As it were, I am in the market for a couple of mod-chips... I have two PS2s... one a classic PS2 and a PStwo slim. I have been doing a lot of reading over the past week, and have pretty much decided to get an Matrix Infinity mod-chip, edging-out (no pun intended) the Crystal 2.0 slightly. I suppose the main reason I don't go to a crystal chip is because from what I am reading, the firmware provided by the manufacture cannot play backups/imports. One must wait for the hacked version to be available, which I am aware is readily available. Although I like the fact that Crystal 2.0 supports DNAS auto-patching, I don't find myself playing online games often enough to make it a part of my decision.
Leading me back to the Matrix chip. It pretty much does everything I am looking for except the DNAS auto-patching(can be overlooked for now). My only concern, and the reason for this post... The matrix team has not released a firmware update since November(language), and a a real actual firmware enhancement since October or last year. I am just curious if anyone has heard from the Matrix team and if they are still around making new firmware? I read a post that indicated they were suppose to come out with DNAS auto-patching back in March of 2006 sometime. (again just using it as a reference point).
Is this 2.0 firmware going to come out or have we seen the latest firmware already?
I also have been reading contradicting information regarding the laser fix... most of these mod-chips come with the "Neo-fix"... one sites have stated that the Neo-fix is only needed for V12, others that all PStwos need it, and I have also read that the V15 and up no longer need the fix. Can someone clear this up for me?
TIA,
EdGe7
