Matrix installed, Same dashboard..?
Matrix installed, Same dashboard..? –
So I installed a matrix infinity on a v14 ps2. I start it up with a short press and it goes to a "matrix" screen. Then it goes straight to the normal dashboard. If I start it with a long press, it jumps right to the dashboard. Either way, I don't really see a difference... What is it supposed to look like?
PS2 isnt like xbox, you dont get a different dashboard, the matrix logo you see is about it.
Thank god. Anyways, what do I do now? I haven't tried, since I haven't fully put it back together yet, but should it play backups now? And if I were to want to get any kind of homebrew running, would I have to do anything with the chip (firmware updates or anything)? Just out of curiousity, why isn't there a different dashboard...? That seems like half the fun. I love haveing avalaunch with xbmc on my xbox.

the ps2 doesnt have the same as xbox mainly because xbox is based on a pc processor and ps2 is not.
in other words the ps2 just doesnt run the right system to be able to do all that stuff the xbox does
Thank you everyone for all the help. Btw, does anyone have any tips on fitting all the wires/modchip under the heat shield on the ps2 slim...? It seems almost impossible...
you will notice there is high spots and low spots in the metal shield, put the chip in a high place on board and make sure wires dont go over any screw holes, when finished put some insulation tape over exposed solder joints and you should be fine
