matrix infinity worked fine for couple of days now boots to black screen –
hi, ive recentlly fitted a matrix infinity modchip in a v9 ps2, its worked fine for a couple of days then all of a sudden while watching a dvd the disc started playing up so i restarted the machine and now the ps2 just boots to black screen . any help would be great.
i did have a bit of trouble doing points a,b,g,i so i decided to do the alternative install to the vias apart from point a.
Does it boot game after the blackscreen? Did you try leaving it there at the blackscreen for 1 minute? It could be because it's not detecting the controller pad 1 and it's trying to detect it.
On turning on the PS2 the Infinity will start to llok for the Joypad in slot 1.
If no Joypad is present the Infinity will keep on looking for it for about 10/15 seconds.
The screen will remain BLACK in these 15 seconds.
After the time elapses Infinity will boot the PS2 normally."
It's almost sure not the initialization of the infinity. This is the usual another problem of the V9/V10 (the laser/la and the black screen) Well, check your controller and via points, and the board for solder balls, also the bios points. If nothing helps, remove the modchip, clean the board/soldering points. In worst case, you'll have to swap the board.
hi tony, ive just took the ps2 back apart i resoldered point a to the alternative point. to see if this would solve the problem. anyway when i put everything back together i booted up to see what would happen and i got the splash screen then the browser option but couldnt boot ps2 or ps1 games or dvd, after resetting the ps2 a couple of times it just wont bring anything up just black screen no browser anything.
i find this pretty wierd because it was working fine would play everything i could throw at it.
i do have a few wires crossing each other could this be a problem also i didnt use thicker wire for clk (y) point which ive just read could cause problems?
The Matrix Infinity is not a sensitive chip so I don't know if that would be a problem. You could have a defect. Try exchanging it... But wait couple days if you wanna to see if anyone here have the same problems. Try to make the install neat.
But, if you have a chip that was working fine for couple days then blackscreen couple days later it really sounds like a manufacture defect...
I went back in side the ps2 checked and cleaned all the points, now ps2 will boot to the browser consistently, but cant boot ps2 originals or backups,dvds,ps1 games nothing. i go in the browser insert a disc but just get read error.
i have another infinity chip should i install this one?
You don't happen to have another V9 laying around that you can swap dvd drives with can ya? Disc read errors are usually laser related...
i havent no lol, could this be a la chip problem should i have done the romeo mod?
could anyone tell me what the romeo mod does?
(to be honest i couldnt find a post that clearly states the problems that can occur if this mod isnt done)
Nah, you won't even be able to eject the dvd drive if the LA chip burnt.
