I have the Matrix Infinity with firmware 1.82 and when I first swich on I have to reset it via the on/off at the back of the PS2 several times for the game to start. Why do I need to reset is via the PS2 on/off 4-5 times before the game will start. Is it taking time to warm up ? or a firmware issue ?

    Cheers

    1. you are sure it's not a clone?
    2. did a professional do the install?
    3. what kind of media are you using?

I don't know of any system that needs to warm up, and 1.82 firmware should have no problems... if you don't know if it's a clone, or wonder about the install, there is a 1.9 firmware out, if you can't upgrade it's either because the chip is a clone, or the install is not good enough to have it flash, which means it's probably a questionable install anyway... don't know why a clone would be this bad either though

    Hi
It's not a clone since after the installation I upgraded it to 1.82. He does appear to be a prof. installer since it was done at a computer stall where they insall a lot of modchips. The media I use are RITEK G05 DVDs and RITEK based CDs.

But after several resets, as described above, the PS2 games plays well.

    Look forward to your reply

Might be your laser that is bad. Does it go to browser when loading a real PS2 games? Do you have this problem with CD based games or only DVD based games, or both? If it is playing real games fine might also be the way you burn the games, might be burning them too fast (I recommend burning at X2 or X4) or try a different program.

I had this problem with my v14 pre-modded PSTwo. It would take 4-5 boots to play a game. I called the place I got it from, and they said it was a bad install. I sent it out, and received it back in a week. After the 'fixing' it never had any problems ever again.

i got the exact problem with mine, just reset it it a few times and now works perfect, i still might send it back and get the installers to check it out, i also updated the firmware to 1.93 and that was fine. my son accidently put the firmware disc back in and now its gone back to 1.82 any ideas.

Strange as it seems try unplugging the controler and then turn it on to see if it boots fine.

Once booted you can always plug the controler in to play the game.

I suggest this as sometimes my console does not boot right and if I unplug the controler it boots fine. this is more prevelent when using my guitar controler as sometimes i have to wiggle the wammy bar a bit before it will boot with it plugged in.

I assume it has something to do with slack analoug sticks on the regular controlers and wammy bar on the guitar controler and if they are sitting in just the right spot it confuses the issue.

Like I said wierd fix but it works for me
