Matrix Infinity slower loading for PS-1 games & Blue Led flashing 4 times..

Hello,
I recently installed an official Matrix Infinity Green Dot Version in my PAL PS-2 39004 V7 GH-022.

The chip works fine and everything boots up, I even flashed the chip from v1.68 to v1.82 firmware.

However, I noticed that when I load PS-1 games (Either copies or originals of any region), it will take a few seconds longer to boot them up than it would with PS-2 CD/DVDs. I also noticed that after I insert a PS-1 CD, the blue led of the reset button will flash 4 times before it starts reading the CD. (It will not do this with PS-2 CD/DVDs)

If I disable the Mod Chip, the PS-1 original games will load faster and the reset button blue led will not flash 4 times, as it would when enabled.

I have no previous experience with Matrix chips, so is this a known characteristic of the Matrix Infinity Green Dot chip, or is there a problem with it?
Or is this simply how it?s supposed to operate on my specific PS-2 model?

Other than that, it seems to work perfectly and will load anything I throw at it.

I found it strange since the Mars II MA-502 on my other 50004 GH-026 model, will load the PS-1 games faster & the led will not flash, but the Mars III will not auto boot the games (need to press reset 2 or 1 times) and will not display the import PS-1 games in full screen like the MI does, so that might have something to do with the problem?

Technically, do you know why it the MI does that by the way?

Another mate also reported a problem after using a MI chip in his PS-2, when ever he installed a hard drive, the laser drive motor would spin like crazy over and over but if he would take the hard drive out, it would go back to normal!

But I have not seen this to safely comment on it.

Well it appears the mars you must force into PSX mode.

The infinity has auto boot thats why it flashes the eject light in that way. When the eject light is flashing the console is in effect rebooting its self into PSX mode so you dont have to do any lame rest combo to enable PSX mode. Just so you know you can force the MI into PSX mode at start up by holding the circle button on controller 1. Also your 50004 has a better laser most likely as its newer and also has a LA driver chip instead of a BA which also makes booting discs faster.

How do I do that?
Playing all those import PSX games with that annoying black vertical border on the bottom part of the screen, is very annoying indeed.
So if I can at last play them in full screen, it will be a great relief!

Actually the 39004 is brand new, where as the 50004 I bought it Christmas 2003.
One thing I noticed about the 39004 is that it has a much noisier fan on the back compared to my older 50004 model. I was thinking if it would be better to swap them around (As I'll be using the 39004 a lot more from now on), or do they use different voltage thus incompatible?
Or should I just leave them as is?

you can edit the MI's PS2 and PSX screen settings in the MI's settings menu by holding triangle and circle at start up. When you have made the changes you want press start to save them then reboot.

The 5000X has a better driver chip regardless of how new the 3900X is so this is most likely why it boots faster.

No just leave the fans like they are. The 5000X was sold with a quieter fan as one of its features and the loud fan in the 3900X is not an issue.

Yes, I know about the MI options menu (Very practical one too. ;)), I was refering to the Mars III MA-502 chip.
Is there a way to force the Mars III MA-502 chip, to display the import PSX games in full screen, on my EURO PAL 50004 GH-026 model?

Since the LA chip (5000X) is better than the BA (3900x), how come so many people are doing the Romero mod on the LA (5000x series), as a prevention of future damage caused to the laser?
In my case, I connected the LA to a 7V line instead of the proposed Romero 5V, as I thought that would be a great drop from the original factory 12V.
It works fine so far!

lol sorry I dont use crap like mars chips so I cant help you there.

The voltage is not what makes the LA boot so fast because even at 5V its better then the BA.
