I just turned on my PS2 and wasn't able to detect my PS2 backup games. This seems to be happening at random because somedays it works fine, and other days it doesn't work. Seems like it takes some time to warm up or something weird, cause it doesn't work on my first few resets. I even tried powering it completely off and then back on again. I decided to just wait for a while, then test it again and now it works. What could be causing this to happen? Has anyone else had problems detecting their games after upgrading to firmware v1.54? My previous firmware was v1.39.

I noticed, not with 1.54 but when I installed 1.45, I had the same problem, I had to turn the console off at the back, leave off for about 20 seconds and have never had a problem since, have now updated to 1.54 and had no problems.

I've been testing my PS2 and I'm starting to think it's because I'm burning at 4X. Reason being because my burner only goes as low as 4X, which sucks. I wasn't planning on getting another burner, getting tired of putting all my money just to get this damn system to work right.

I have a Sony DW-D22A burner. Can any of you recommend a better burner that works well at 2X for my version 9 PS2? I'm trying to rule out all possible problems so I can stop wasting time on this thing. -.-

I sometimes got the same problem with bad media.
Buy a NEC 3520/3540, and buy Fuji DVD+R media, which are the best.

When the ps2 has difficulties with reading some parts in the inner circle, it gave me the Red Screen of Death. I have installed >100's of Matrix Infinities, and the problem could be due to:

    - bad media
    - scratched media
    - bad burner
    - bad firmware on the burner

Well I've already tested my PS2 with good media Ri-Data, which was recommended to me by the guy who sold me my modchip, and another person I bought games from who has never had a problem with that media. It has to be something wrong with the install or the system because the games I with the pre-modded system don't work when first turning on my PS2 either. I tested my system yesterday after having it off for a day or two and right away it went into the red screen with my good backups. I'm starting to think it's the laser. Supposed to be refurbished parts... but starting to act like an old piece of junk. Is this the sound of a laser going bad?

I would say it is probably something to do with the romeo Mod, this reduces the voltage going to the LA chip and in my opinion affects the reding ability (although other people will argue otherwise)

When I mod V9s I fit the summ0ne fix and have never had any returns
You may want to get the fix changed to a summ0ne instead of the romeo before changing the laser

    regards,
    Danny
