I bought a Matrix Infinity from eBay to chip a second console. It was advertised as a Homebrew version, which I believe is better than the standard chip.

However it looks exactly the same as my other standard Matrix Infinity and doesn't appear to have any extra fuctionality that I can see.

How do I tell the difference?

upgrade it with a firmware you can find it at www.infinitymod.com

you cant boot back ups with a homebrew. They sell it as homebrew so it wont be illegal or something like that i guess.

Thanks, I upgraded it straight after installing it so it boots backups fine. Never tried it with the 'shipped' firmware as I didn't think it was supposed to anyway for legal reasons.

It works fine, which is the important bit.
