I thought the point of the homebrew was that it wouldn't allow you to play game backups? To do that, you need to flash the default infinity firmware on there.

Not with the homebrew it doesn't. I just flashed it onto my chip to be sure. It doesn't do anything really, it's pretty useless!

@Oni29: Just boot it up using the 2 second power button trick with the v1.54 firmware CD in there. It'll upgrade the FW on the chip and you'll be happy.

yes it now sounds really like a laser or media problem

Try to clean your laser with some compressed air,
Try to burn your backup on quality DVD-r (ritek or vebatim Dye)
Try to Adjust the COG (white wheel on the back of the tray)a little bit counterwise
Try to Adjust the Azimuth (the screw on the laser Arm)
Try to Give the laser a little bit more Juice on the left pot (not to much or you will kill it)

some handy tips to check of the problem is the COG or Azimuth
put the PS2 on his top and try to boot the game if it works 95% the problem is in the azimuth or COG

    good luck MABCOM
