    Dear PS2 fans

I just bought a second hand 50004 PS2 with what was supposed to be a Ripper 3 but on powering up the PS2, the Playstation 2 logo is accompanied by 'Infinity v1.21' just under the right side of the logo.

    To the point:
I want to open up my PS2 and check out what is under the hood. I have no idea what I have inside and seeing that so many clones are lurking around, I would like to see for myself what is in my PS2.

I have two requests, sorry but I am kind of new so bare with me.

    1) Can someone send me a good link showing step by step how to get to innards of the 50004 model.

    2) Can someone post a picture of an authentic Infinity Matrix v1.21 board.

If anyone has any comments or can help me a bit with these two requests I would be most appreciative.

    Hmm?Can this be true?

I have been lurking around the caverns of this forum and have discovered somethings new to me, old to you perhaps.

So the Ripper Team ripped off the Matrix code?

WOW! I thought the Ripper was an original chip! So it's are a clone?!? I'm lost?

These strange statements seem to crop up when I search '1.21' as in Infinity v1.21, which I am continuing to investigate.

Maybe I am really really new around here!

    Sorry if I'm off topic.
Hope someone chimes in with info on my original question or the queries I made here.

    thanks again

Ripper 3 is just a clone/fake matrix infinity thats why you see the infinity v1.21 the latest infinity firmware is v1.75 but you can't upgrade since yours is not a real matrix infinity

I believe every word you say. In fact I have opened my 50004a and discovered a clone, for sure, see the picture I attached.

Thing is, the Ripper site claims I can upgrade to a later firmware. Can I use the ripper FW upgrade on this chip?
