Hi there i need a little help.

    Problem

When the ps2 comes on you get a matrix boot screen then you get the ps2 standard screen (Tells me the ps2 is fine) and the chip worked. But this is where the problem is it wont do anything else all i get is Disk read ERROR on any disk i use the ps2 was fine before i installed the chip??

    Details

I have a version 10 PS2 (Pal) - Chip used : matrixinfinity modchip (Green Dot).

ive installed the modchip and checked all the connections twice

    Question

is there something you need to do to the laser when installing the chip (Ajust it)??
or change the disk setting in options???

    Wappy

    Many thanks in advance

Edit - Some one has suggested
Maybe if there is a modchip installed, something has been disrupted during the install of the modchip .

Edit - I found out how to ajust the laser and it turns out the dvd/cd arnt spinning at all (Im sure i could hear them spinning before), this would lead to a read error i guess but what chould be causing it ??

Did you apply the romeo fix? Are getting disk error message or just not reading the disks?

    lol

Sorry where i got the chip they just said solder as per the diagram (and game me a link to the matrix website) and i've done nothing more.

As for the reading the laser is movin up and down its just not spinning the disks anymore..

Edit --- Is this the romeo Fix?? is it the linking for a stable 5v to the la chip?? if it is i have NOT don this

ahh i found a section on testing the coils i'll check the laser this weekend with the coils

Thanks for the point in the right direction

no romeo rix on v9, v10 means bad things will happen. You might have blown an ic on your motherboard where it tells the laser to do things. hopfully not.

well ive tested the coils and there fine (4.8 Ohms).

Im think it could be the LA chip that is dead ive found a replacment for £8 but is there anyway of testing the chip first to make shire it is dead ????

Many thanks for all your help so far.

will note tho the romeo fix was NOT on the frst time it was turned on and from what EvilCloudStrife said im wondering if that killed the la chip?

    Next question i have then

HOW DO YOU TEST THE LA CHIP???

I don't think it's the LA chip. Check any of the following points and shorten the amount of wire exposed: B-G-I-A-H-SX
