Infinity, PStwo and DVD+/-RW
Infinity, PStwo and DVD+/-RW –
anybody else having this problem:
Backup games work good and well, when burned on DVD+R or DVD-R, but on RWs I just get the red screen telling me to install a valid PS2 disc (or something like that).
I have a brand new PStwo (latest version) and the Infinity has firmware v1.54, so everything should be running smoothly.
Can I force the chip to backup-PS2 mode in some way, or do I just have to use up all my DVD-Rs?
For DVD-RW support with the MI on a V9-V13 and most likely V14 you need to solder the "F" wire. The "F" point on the chip isnt even labeled because you really shouldn't be concerned with using DVD-RW media in your PS2 as DVD-RW media is much harder for any laser to read. Just stay with DVD-R.
Yeah, I had heard about the strain that RW puts on the laser, and I suspect that's the reason my first PS2 is so busted. I just hate using DVD-Rs because I'm so cheap, but I guess I'll just have to get used to it.
